August at Kahrizak University of Applied Science and Technology was marked by a series of specialized training courses and educational programs, providing valuable opportunities to enhance the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of staff across various departments of the Kahrizak Charity Complex.
During the month, a specialized “Internal Trainers Empowerment” course was held to enhance trainers’ instructional skills and improve the effectiveness of the teaching process. Key topics included adult learning principles, modern teaching methods, classroom management, effective communication with learners, learning assessment, and constructive feedback.
Several specialized courses were also conducted in the fields of care and nursing. The “Principles of Personal Hygiene for Older Adults and Persons with Disabilities” course focused on the specific needs of care recipients and the principles of personal care. The “Principles of Nutrition for Older Adults and Persons with Disabilities” course addressed nutritional needs, the prevention of malnutrition, and the importance of considering the physical conditions of care recipients. The “Safe Handling and Transfer of Older Adults and Persons with Disabilities, and Pressure Injury Prevention and Care” course was also conducted to provide training on safe handling and transfer techniques, reduce the risk of transfer-related injuries, and prevent pressure injuries.
The first session of the “First Aid” training course was also conducted specifically for nursing aides. The session covered topics including vital signs assessment, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the Heimlich maneuver, bleeding control, the management of burns and fractures, and appropriate responses to emergency situations.
In the field of mental health, the “Introduction to Psychiatric Disorders and Crisis Management During Symptom Relapse” course was designed to increase staff awareness of schizophrenia spectrum disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders, while strengthening their ability to respond appropriately to challenging and crisis situations.
Alongside the specialized training courses, creativity and communication skills were also incorporated into the educational programs offered in August. The “Creative Thinking” course, designed for staff members of the Public Participation Unit, focused on developing creative approaches to communication, engaging donors, and fostering their long-term involvement. In addition, the research webinar “Typical Speech and Language Development” explored the stages of speech and language development during childhood and adolescence, as well as the factors influencing this developmental process.
Education at Kahrizak University of Applied Science and Technology encompasses a broad range of areas. Professional skill development, continuous learning, staff empowerment, and the effective transfer of knowledge into real-world care settings are just some of the educational activities carried out by this institution, recognized as the first specialized university dedicated to elderly care.
